Dr. Jane Ross Mays grew up in Florence, Kentucky and received her B.S. in Biology and in Psychology in 1993 at Eastern Kentucky University, where she graduated with honors. She received her D.M.D (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) degree four years later from the University of Kentucky’s School of Dental Medicine. Afterwards, she was accepted into the UK General Practice Residency Program at the Kentucky Clinic. Following her residency, Dr. Mays spent several years teaching part-time in the Oral Diagnosis Department of the UK Dental School. Dr. Mays has been a dentist since 1997 and purchased her practice in Hyde Park in 2004.
Dr. Mays’ Cincinnati practice sets itself apart from other dental practitioners by actively working with patients on their whole-body well-being through the practice of Oral-Systemic Health. The correlations between oral diseases and systemic conditions are broadly accepted. Inflammation and certain bacteria in the oral cavity can be connected to seven of the 10 leading causes of death. The experienced staff at Dr. Mays’ Dental office utilizes patient education, has implemented screening protocols and tools, and collaborates with local medical professionals to effectively manage the oral manifestations of systemic diseases. Saliva testing is one important tool utilized to diagnose the specific underlying oral pathogens causing periodontal disease and inflammation and leading to a higher incidence of chronic systemic diseases. This allows for the effective management of the patient’s health, well-being and longevity of life.

Dr. Mays is a past President of the American Association of the National Student Research Group and received the Americal College of Dentists Leadership Award during her years at the University of Kentucky. Since entering private practice, she has been chosen as a Top Dentist in Cincinnati Magazine every year beginning in 2016 through 2024 and Top Dentist in Cincy Magazine. When not at work, Dr. Mays loves to read history, biographies, and fiction. She has also spent time running road races, from 5K’s to marathons, and has completed 37 marathons (through 2023). She loves spending time visiting her two children as well who are working (in New York City) and attending college (in Bozeman, MT), hanging out with her husband and cuddling with their two cute cats and crazy dog Oliver.
Have been going to Dr. Mays for years and have always been extremely satisfied with the care I have received. The staff is extremely considerate and professional. Couldn’t imagine going to a different dentist.
